About the Author

Donald Pillittere is an accomplished product manager with proven success in developing and implementing long-term strategic vision to achieve profitability. His leadership has enhanced profit performance in a variety of disciplines both by increasing sales and significantly reducing expenses, without sacrificing quality or customer satisfaction. These results have frequently been achieved while simultaneously beating time-to-market deadlines. This results-driven professional’s 25-year career has encompassed digital imaging / film scanning; medical imaging and health sciences; and process controls for both light manufacturing and heavy industrial applications.

Currently Director of Product Engineering and Program Management at Transonic Systems Inc., Mr. Pillittere manages the development and introduction of numerous medical flow measurement products for both clinical and research applications. Previously as Worldwide Product Manager for the Eastman Kodak Company’s Professional Division, he launched numerous award-winning scanners that significantly outperformed sales projections and exceeded profitability goals. He also has a successful track record in the international arena, with experience in Asia, Europe, Latin America, and Japan, as well as North America. A sought-after expert, Mr. Pillittere was frequently quoted in corporate press releases, as well as various periodicals and professional journals.

Prior to joining Kodak, Mr. Pillittere earned accolades in the areas of design engineering; process engineering, and software development with Process Control Industries and Bethlehem Steel Corporation.

Sharing his wisdom and real-world experience as Adjunct Professor at his alma mater, Mr. Pillittere has taught graduate courses in Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing Strategy & Tactics, and Managing Manufacturing Resources at the Rochester Institute of Technology’s College of Business since 1999. He successfully combines his industrial experiences with the theory and principles of operations management to offer students practical, proven tools and approaches that can be applied in a wide variety of business settings. A gifted public speaker, Mr. Pillittere creates a dynamic, challenging, and fun learning environment that he adapts to the specific needs of each class.

He earned a Bachelor of Science degree at the State University of New York at Buffalo in Electrical Engineering; and holds a Master of Business Administration degree from RIT’s Executive MBA Program, from which he graduated With Honors, as a member of Phi Kappa Phi and Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Societies.

Clearly a highly motivated individual in his personal life as well, Mr. Pillittere is an accomplished marathon runner, having competed in events in New York City and Chicago. Happily married for 25 years, he and his wife are the proud parents of three children, with whom he resides in Spencerport, New York.
