About the Author

Andrea Bikfalvy was born one blustery February day in Pawating Hospital in Niles, Michigan. She grew up in Detroit and attended Grand Haven Senior High School in Grand Haven, Michigan.

Her dream of becoming a writer first surfaced in elementary school, and strengthened during high school. At the age of eleven, her picture book, Samantha's Adventure received a Young Author's Award.

After majoring in Elementary Education at Alma College with minors in Art and English, Andrea lived in Kalamazoo, Michigan for a year and then moved to Lexington, KY, where she fell in love with the rolling hills, avidly explored the wilderness areas of the Daniel Boone National Forest and Red River Gorge, and watched enthralled as sleek thoroughbreds thundered past at the racetrack.

Combining her love for kids and her love for stories, Andrea now writes children's books. She is a member of Citizens for Midwifery (CfM), Pathway Community Church, and a local MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) group. She and her son live in southern MI with two black dogs and a fish named Fishy. She spends her spare time tickling her son, reading, hiking in the woods, and working on their fixer-upper house.

The Junkyard Club is her first novel. In a moment of boredom in sixth grade, daydreams of fun and adventure and meeting new, interesting people sparked the story that grew into The Junkyard Club. Even as an adult, Andrea still enjoys the fun and adventure the kids discover in The Junkyard Club.
